Junior ISAs and Alternatives to the CTF

There are many different options available to parents and grandparents when it comes to saving for a child's future.

The new Junior ISA is available to any child under the age of 18 who did not qualify for a Child Trust Fund, and has an annual tax-free limit of £3,600. Junior ISAs are offered by private providers, and you have the choice of investing in either a Stocks and Shares-based Junior ISA, or a Cash Junior ISA.

Child Tax Exempt Savings Plans (TESPs) also offer an additional monthly tax-free allowance, and can be held in addition to a Junior ISA or CTF. Child TESPs are available from Friendly Societies such as Shepherds Friendly, who also offer a Junior ISA.
