25 Feb 10 80 Percent of Parents Oppose Child Trust Fund Cuts

As the politicians debate the future of Child Trust Funds, an overwhelming 80% of parents say that all children should remain eligible rather than just those from low income families. According to the survey conducted by Family Investments some 96% of parents believed that the introduction of the Child Trust Fund programme had been a good thing and had a positive influence on them saving for the future of their child.

22 Feb 10 Almost a Third of Parents Fund Adult Children
  MyEggNest News. Parents are having to support their grown up children and are doing so by remortgaging their homes in increasing numbers. YUCKIES (Young Unwittingly Costly Kids) are behind around 28% of parents being coerced into raising funds to help their 18 – 30 year old offspring get a helping hand into life. Recent figures show a staggering 93% of parents are paying something towards their children's finances with around half saying that they are borrowing to achieve that goal.

Research conducted by the Halifax has shown that, on average, children gain around £1,383.20 each year from a variety of sources. The research shows that 1/3rd of children save for a special 'something' but the Halifax advises parents to help this grow by using a short term high interest savings account.
