Featured Review
"I was provided with a very good level of service, and the information given about the Shepherds Friendly - Young Savers Plan was very helpful in deciding to proceed with the plan. All my queries and questions were dealt with in a timely manner and I felt looked after throughout the whole process. I feel my child's future is in great hands. I was also very pleased with the sickness benefits on offer and the option for withdrawal if required. I will be setting up the same account for my other children, and look forward to dealing with them again." posted by roshni

Child TESPs: A New Way Forward
The low-risk type of plan, which is very straightforward as well, is extremely attractive to grandparents and parents who would like to put aside a small amount each month for the future of their children. Child TESPS typically have a tax allowance of £25 per month, which can only be offered by friendly societies. One exception is Shepherds Friendly's Young Saver Plan, which allows parents to save up to £100 per month Read more

Gov't contributions have little impact on saving
A new report that has analysed the way Child Trust Fund accounts have been growing has revealed that government vouchers to give a head start to low income families have done little to affect overall savings.

Alternative options for parents
With the Junior ISA to be released next month, parents should be aware that although it has been very well publicised it is not the only children's saving product that exists.

On average, higher education students face debt of over £50,000. Because of this, it is no wonder that a recent survey found parents worry more about university fees and student loan debts than any other issue facing their children, including pregnancy or drugs.
