Is a Self Invested Personal Pension (SIPP) for me?

Steve Weisner - Independent Financial Adviser Radcliffe & Newlands
In the last couple of years there has been a lot written in the press about SIPPs, yet many people are still coming to us asking “what is a SIPP?”. Put simply, a “Pure” or “Full” SIPP is a tax-efficient wrapper that can be used to shelter a range of investments. You, the investor, choose what goes into the wrapper. The pension company merely follows your instructions, ensuring the investments are held securely and legally.

For many, a pension would simply mean holding a tailored range of UK and global equity investment funds. For others who have the confidence and prefer to be more involved, more adventurous investment opportunities are also available through a Full SIPP.

Hornbuckle Mitchell, for instance, have SIPPs that hold a museum, a curry house, land in the Bahamas, car parking spaces, hotel rooms, a stud farm, as well as a large number of dental practices and nursing homes. You can also invest in residential property via The Property Investment Market. Income from these ventures are tax efficiently reinvested and are free from capital gains tax upon sale. Contributions attract tax relief at your highest marginal rate.

SIPPs are growing in popularity, with many consolidating pensions funds to enable one, but check they are the right type of SIPP for you or indeed if you require one as the costs for running them are higher than for personal pensions.

To find out whether a SIPP is the right type of pension for you, please contact Steve and he'll be happy to outline the possibilities for you.

Interesting Fact

50% Of Mortgages Holders Are Paying Far Too Much

An astounding piece of market research just released shows that over 50% of all UK mortgage holders are paying far too much in monthly repayments. This is because their mortgage rates are based on a Standard Variable Rate (SVR) instead of other cheaper plans like trackers, fixed and discounted.

Folks, the mortgage sector is crying out for your business right now so do some research into what's being offered and you could find your monthly repayments slashed by up to 25%!

To find out you could reduce your monthly mortgage repayments, please speak to Steve where he'll be happy to help you.
