Investing for Grandchildren

I have £7,500 to invest for each of my 4 grandchildren. I need it to be 100% safe. Which is the best place to invest this money?

As grandparents we have had Post Office savings accounts for our two grandsons, we are looking to move this as we are very disappointed with the rate of interest. Can you suggest other investments?

I have 2 grandchildren and have just over £1000 each in a Nationwide Smart Saver which is earning not very much interest. Could you advise on a different kind of account that they cannot get their hands on until they are 21 years old?

My 2 grandsons (2 and 9 months) live in Germany but I'd like to open some sort of long-term savings account for them to which I can add for birthdays & Christmases. What do you suggest?

My recently deceased father wanted to leave some money for each of his grandchildren. Most of the assets are in gilts paying high rates of interest and not due to mature until 2011. Is it best to open a trust for the children who are under 18?
