If we give children money to either spend or save doesnt that take away our right to have any say in what they do with it surelty saving it on their behlf is the right route to go even if we are not popular

If you give your children money then it is up to you and your child what to spend it on. The reason why you decide is because if your child buys something inapropriate with the money you gave them, then what will you do?

Hi if your on about the child trust fund money when they are older its really there money and up to them what they do with it but as parents all we can do is guide them the best we can on what to spend it on.

i agree we cant tell them how to spend it but hopfully they have been brought up well enough to not waste it!
id try to steer them towards a deposit in a flat myself
