I thought we were the only people to do this. Me and my partner save it up in a jar, we counted it last month and it was over £60! The trick is not to touch it for a bit though!

I do this and my partner was laughing at me, but now he tends to give me his change too. For years now I've had a piggy bank with 20p coins in it. Plus a tin with 1,2, 5 and 10p's in. I sometimes put away 50p coins, but not always, especially if I'm in need of cash.. we're self employed!
My eldest child has started doing it too, he loves to sit and count his change.
When I've saved up enough, I bank it. I hate carrying too much change around anyway, I always empty my purse out in the evening especially if I've been shopping.

I also taught my children to value money. For me the only way to make them value something is to appreciate the hard work thats goes in to achieving it. We have started a pocket money reward system -if you will! It works on the basis of them helping me out round the house with chores- tidying up after themselves..good behaviour. It soon adds up and they can spend the money on what they choose.

I save my change all year and then pay it into my bank to add to my budget for Christmas presents. It adds up to a lot of money over the year, and the best bit is I don't even notice I'm saving as it's only loose change!

I too save all the 1p's, 2p's and all coins under 50p and give it to my boys to pop in their joint saying bottle and then once it is full we get it changed and it goes towards holiday spends. Teaches the children the value of money too that it takes time to save.

I try to save all the change that I can. It gets divided between our money jar and my sons money box *he is only 16 weeks). I find that if you save the bigger coins (50p and £1) you get a lot save quickly without even noticing it missing from your purse.

I have to say that a lot of times I have been to the pub, you see young people leave their change on the bar after collecting their drinks (always a couple of 2ps, 1ps etc). If you have a good look at any busy pub/bar you will see loads of loose change around. Nobody seems to realise that the pennies all add up. Fair enough it won't be instant but every little helps as they say, and if you just chuck pennies in a jar over the course of a year it soons adds up!!

We do this too! I have a jar that we fill up with small change and then when it is full we change it up at the bank (coinstar charges so we don't use that!) and then put the balance in our daughter's savings although when she isabit older we might give her the money for a special treat!
