Hi Everyone

Just wondering if someone can give me some advice on whether I should continue to save into a baby bond with the Children's Mutual? or start putting into Child Trust Fund stakeholder with Family Investment. I asked because, I set up a baby bond for my son before the Child Trust Fund had started.

If it were my decision, I'd go for a " two birds with one stone" approach (horrible metaphor but there ya go! LOL) and choose the Ethical Child Trust Fund .. not only are you saving for your child financially, but also preventing investment in morally or environmentally unsound products.

For instance, there's no investing in companies which are involved in animal testing, tobacco or alcohol sales, intensive farming ... you're benefiting your child but also the planet and it's inhabitants.

Hi Susie,

Welcome to our new forum and so far you've been a fantastic contributor. Please carry on the great postings. As it happens, you've posted three postings, please PM us at info@myeggnest.com with your details and we'll pop a Mr Men Gift in the post for you completely FREE of charge (as per our Joining up promise)

Re this post. I agree with you. Having an ethical approach to investing is a great way to start to save for your children's future. As it happens though, your recommendation of the family investments also happens to top the MyEggNest's CTF stakeholder comparison table (take a look here). Dare I say it, sometimes it also pays to be ethical!!!!

We have our DD's Trust Fund with HSBC, we're really pleased with the interest so far, she has more money than us!

I went with Britannia building society child trust fund. It seems to be keeping up there with the best of them on interest but it's quite hard to keep track of and I don't knwo how easy it would be to chaneg accounts. Has anyone done this?

Interesting to read about the ethical trust funds. I hadn't even heard of these and will definately be having a look.

Hi
I've just joined here while searching for information on child trust funds. I've had my sons cheque for over a year.. bad I know... I need to sort it out now, I think the cut off date is beginning of July.

I've just looked at the ethical trust fund from family investments as mentioned earlier in this thread and am tempted to go for that.
I was just going to open up a savings account as I am not sure of all the stakeholder stuff.
However because I know you can change the accounts I may give this one a go and see what happens.

I'm not very good at all with anything financial, it all goes way over my head, so I'm hoping this forum will help me with it all.

Thanks
Yvonne

Hi,
Just got round to finally opening a "Child Trust Fund" for my daughter.
Absolutely no idea if I,ve chosen the right policy to go with but have to say the £30.00 mothercare vouchers did sway my decision.
Anyone else gone with the Child Mutual option.
All very confusing I think and now I,ve done it I don,t know now what happens next. Eighteen years is a long time but hopefully at teh end of that time the investment will be worth something.
Here,s hoping.!!!!!
